Blog #1: Doing Some Housecleaning (For This Blog)
Monday 27th January, 2025
...Okay, full disclosure, it's more like the early hours of the 28th (looking at my PC clock as I type this, it's literally 1:54am), which, frankly, is completely normal for me at this point. I'm a MASSIVE night owl, which means staying up past midnight is not only the norm, but what I want every night, in fact. Being up at this hour, with the cosy black night sky by my side, one small light behind me and my 2 monitors in front of me, gives me quite the sense of comfort, frankly. It's just me, myself and I, something I hope to one day make a reality 24/7/365 whenever it is that I'm able to move out of my parents' house and live in a flat (or apartment for the Americans reading this) of my own. Trust me, I do noooooot stay here like I'm some sterotypical nerd/neckbeard/whatever. The sooner I can feel truly free, independent and successful, the better, I'd say.
As far as I'm concerned, though, it's still spiritually the 27th. Way I see it, the actual day doesn't start until I properly go to bed and sleep, makes things simpler in my mind.
In other news, what have I been doing in recent times? Well, frankly, I've been doing one of 4 things every day for at least the last few weeks, if not months:
- Jobhunting like mad, searching, what is it, 12 to 15 different searches on almost just as many websites, daily? I've been doing this ever since I graduated uni half a year ago, and despite probably having sent like, at least a couple dozen applications out to various companies big and small, I've had 0 luck so far. Most of them don't even respond...
- Working on this Neocities website. As a graduate in a programming-based degree (a coding specialism in Computer Games Development), I wanna find SOME way to actually keep my brain going while I jobhunt, and thankfully working on this website is both a creative outlet AND a way to actually do some HTML/CSS stuff, so I consider it a win-win... even if I got the base design of this website from a template (as you can see at the very bottom of every page), but that's neither here nor there.
- Doing art. Motivation for doing it is FRUSTRATINGLY hard to come by, but whenever I do manage to snag some, I always do my damndest to put it to good use. I actually mainly draw using my finger right now, using an Android app called HiPaint, though I still sometimes use paint.net when it comes to doing lineart for character drawings; HiPaint is what I use for character sketches and backgrounds in general. I really should finish up the art page so I can actually show my art off... But I have a LOT of stuff to do here, so I dunno how far up the list that is.
- Playing lots of video games. In fact, maybe I should make it a segment on this blog on what I've been playing... Eh, why not?
What I've Been Playing
- Mario Kart: Super Circuit: WAY harder than I was expecting any Mario Kart game to be, fucking hell... like, it's so unforgiving if you actually want to get first and/or a good rank at the end of a GP! Why is the drifting so weirdly sharp yet not sharp enough? Why does bumping into other racers make you lose coins, then SPIN YOU OUT if you have no coins to lose? I looked up how to get the star rankings in this game (thank you, Mario Wiki), and, like... you lose points for each time you bump into a wall (and not a small amount either), for EVERY SINGLE FRAME you drive offroad or each frame you're not accelerating (yeah, need to ease on the gas cause of a tight corner? Tough shit, I guess, the game thinks you're playing bad because of that)... it's a lot, but it's also weirdly satisfying, I think? Like, actually locking in and doing well feels GOOD, even if I have to play on 50/100cc to do it. I dunno, I'll keep at it.
- ANTONBLAST: Pizza Tower 2: BLASTlectric Boogaloo... okay, that's the obvious comparison over, THIS GAME KICKS SO MUCH ASS OH MY GOD. I didn't follow it's development as intently as Pizza Tower, but now that I finally have it, I'm not sure what game I prefer! All the energy and noise and tight gameplay at the core just tickles my autistic brain and I love every single second of it, AND we're getting content updates on top of it??? Hooh, watch this space, cause it's gonna be fun, I feel... Oh, and I swear, Gianni Matragrano is gonna voice-act my dreams at this point, with how much I bump into him in stuff.
- Bloons TD 5: After so much time poured into getting medals on expert maps in BTD6, I needed something where I could just turn my brain off... and thankfully, this game allows you to buy Double Cash with in-game currency instead of through a microtransaction, so I can just buy that and turn my brain off on almost anything the game has, wheeeeeeeee!
Well, that's all she wrote, for now. If anyone out here actually reads this, I'm so glad you did, genuinely. Hope you'll stick around to see the site get worked on some more! Till next time!
This blog was written while listening to this song on loop in the background. I can feel the Spear and Jackhammer coming already.
